Playing with Media Player Classic instead

Question : I downloaded a codec pack which has the Media Player Classic bundled with it. I decided that I wanted to watch all video files with it so I went and right-clicked an AVI file and tried changing the association. I clicked Media Player Classic and checked the option that states: "Always use the selected program to use this kind of file." But when I opened the AVI file, the Windows Media Player pops up instead. Why is this happening?

Answer : Usually, once the association is changed, Windows Media Player (WMP) shouldn't pop up again. But try this: open WMP and go to Tools > Options. Select the File Types tab see if there's a check beside the Windows video file (avi) entry. If there is, uncheck it. Try double-clicking an AVI file again.
